What is an interview with me doing on ThePharmVoice, you might ask? I asked that too, but my friend Gloria, who writes ThePharmVoice says that beauty and health go hand in hand and with my work with MRSA that I count as a viable interview candidate. Ok. So I was.

Thanks, Glo! And I am still waiting for the mangoes!

This has been *quite* the couple of months for me and for my beauty blogging - after the sheer luck of the NY Times mention for eBeautyDaily (thank you AGAIN Janice of Technorati for sorting out my problems!!!), I was featured in Women’s Wear Daily’s May Beauty Biz issue as an “It” blogger. I have also just completed an interview for Allure Magazine which will come out in August.

This isn’t quite as mainstream as Allure or as UNBELIEVABLE as WWD or the NYT, but for us online loving folks, Glam.com is a great place to be and is an honor to be featured. Just prior to the NYTimes feature, the most charming rep for Glam got in touch with me about NailTechSecrets joining Glam, and then discovered eBeautyDaily and sucked ‘em both in to Glam.com who has been geared towards fashion only for the last little while but has now scooped up beauty into their midst (wtg Glam!). So, ANYWAY, starting now, you can find Nail Tech Secrets featured on the home page of Glam.com - just for the day, I think, so if you miss it, here is the picture, for posterity.

Nail Tech Secrets featured on Glam.com tomorrow!

I meant to keep this for posterity too, but just got it dug out of my chat logs. This is just a teensy snippet of the conversation between my friend Aaron and I on Mothers Day. Aaron has a unique way of saying things sometimes, but this one was particularly offensive funny, mostly because I am almost positive he was being sincere:

Aaron:
happy mothers day by the way
Aaron:
anyone who is as old as you and is a woman, must be a mom too

Mint Julep CupAs a born and bred Kentuckian, Derby Day is *quite* the important holiday for us. No one in Texas or in my former home state of Tennessee quite understands its significance. I don’t drink bourbon, but I do on Derby Day, so get thee to the liquor store and get your Derby Day festivities on! Here is a recipe for the classic Mint Julep, and if you have some silver Julep cups to serve them in, all the better (Mom, it is time to share the wealth!)!

4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp superfine sugar
2 tsp water

Muddle mint leaves, sugar, and water in a silver julep cup. Fill the cup with ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig! Here is some interesting info about the history of the silver julep cup.

And here is a little joke to get you in the mood:

Going on a Cruise! Woohoo!

Woohoo! We just got registered for the Blogonomics cruise - Now, for the low low price of $ 2000.00 (plus drinkin’ money…LOL), I can take Darren’s Six Figure Blogging class that it would have cost me under $300 bucks to take. LOL And get to meet some of my favorite folks from b5 and who knows where else. Oh yeah, and get to take a cruise (which I LOVE to do - and have been trying to talk Marshall into taking one forever). I luvvvv Royal Caribbean–yummmm!
Mom, you gonna be moved here by October???

I hope I am not the only Scrooge who is always relieved when Christmas comes and goes. Really, I would be very happy if all of the hoopla (not to mention the expense) was put off to about once every 5 years. It is really not that I don’t love to give people presents, because I really do, but gosh it is a huge ordeal, and it seems like you must gift everyone you know, AND even some that you don’t know, every single year.

I read somewhere, probably on a blog recently, that they would like to eliminate the Christmas gift thing altogether, and just give very nice birthday gifts. Maybe it was my brother that said that, now that I think about it. That way, you are gifting the people that you love, and are much more able to give them something really nice, or something that they really need. Not to mention the expenses are spread out over the year (well, except for my brother who is always broke in August..ha). I guess the retail world would never go for it, but it is something to think about. At any rate, I hope you 5 people who read this blog had a wonderful Christmas, and Santa brought you everything your heart desired!

Love,
Scrooge :)

Rock is Shadrock’s featured friend of the week over at my friend Kim Bloomer’s Bark-N-Blog! Go check her out if you are a dog lover, you are in for a real treat if you haven’t seen her site before. She is awesome! She is also the US affiliate for the Bella Moss Foundation, which is a UK based group founded to raise awareness and help pets with MRSA (which is obviously how I met Kim). Anyway, enjoy it! And, if you don’t like dogs, don’t bother going there and making crappy comments, it just isn’t nice! :)
