Bizarro Gmail

When writing an email this morning I went to click Send, and got this message from Gmail:
I haven’t run in to that before, but was copying something over to one of our fabulous editors, and part of it said “(attached)” - you can see that above - and apparently Gmail saw that and thought I might want something attached. This might solve my problem of always (ALWAYS) forgetting the attachment. Wow. Big Brother is watching. Google is just like the democrats - trying to save me from myself. I can’t wait to see what happens when I really forget an attachment. Want to place a wager on whether it will catch it? I bet no - that is my luck.

I’ve been using a GreaseMonkey (Firefox) script that does that, as I am a chronic attachment forgetter. I guess Gmail decided to bundle it as core functionality! Cool.
And don’t worry, that feature can be done completely at a local level.
Sidenote, re: Big Brother and Democrats: I’m re-reading 1984 curently, and what’s really scaring me is how frequently it reminds me of Republicans — not just Democrats. They both want to control you, it’s just a matter of which part.

Thats my hubby and my fave thing to say about the Dems - always trying to save us from ourselves. But youre exactly right about them all. Thats why Im a Libertarian at heart. Pity they don’t have any worthy contenders.

Pegasus Mail has had this feature for years, spots that you mentioned an attachment or enclosure and alerts you to the fact that you didn’t attach it…
Obviously, there are occasions for false positives, but better to see a couple of those occasionally than have to wipe egg off your face when you don’t file that story/image with your editor that was on deadline.
