What is an interview with me doing on ThePharmVoice, you might ask? I asked that too, but my friend Gloria, who writes ThePharmVoice says that beauty and health go hand in hand and with my work with MRSA that I count as a viable interview candidate. Ok. So I was.

Thanks, Glo! And I am still waiting for the mangoes!

This has been *quite* the couple of months for me and for my beauty blogging - after the sheer luck of the NY Times mention for eBeautyDaily (thank you AGAIN Janice of Technorati for sorting out my problems!!!), I was featured in Women’s Wear Daily’s May Beauty Biz issue as an “It” blogger. I have also just completed an interview for Allure Magazine which will come out in August.

This isn’t quite as mainstream as Allure or as UNBELIEVABLE as WWD or the NYT, but for us online loving folks, Glam.com is a great place to be and is an honor to be featured. Just prior to the NYTimes feature, the most charming rep for Glam got in touch with me about NailTechSecrets joining Glam, and then discovered eBeautyDaily and sucked ‘em both in to Glam.com who has been geared towards fashion only for the last little while but has now scooped up beauty into their midst (wtg Glam!). So, ANYWAY, starting now, you can find Nail Tech Secrets featured on the home page of Glam.com - just for the day, I think, so if you miss it, here is the picture, for posterity.

Nail Tech Secrets featured on Glam.com tomorrow!

Gracies Kitties 22May06

kittens

Noah and I “rescued” these kitties from my father in law’s barn over the weekend. They belong to our cat, Gracie, who took a notion to move far away from home to have them. But, they are back under our roof now. I am sure Gracie is thrilled. Ha! There is one more cat that we got the next morning, so there are 4 total. Note the lack of yellow cats and the inclusion of a white one! Woohoo!

I meant to keep this for posterity too, but just got it dug out of my chat logs. This is just a teensy snippet of the conversation between my friend Aaron and I on Mothers Day. Aaron has a unique way of saying things sometimes, but this one was particularly offensive funny, mostly because I am almost positive he was being sincere:

Aaron:
happy mothers day by the way
Aaron:
anyone who is as old as you and is a woman, must be a mom too

Hsien gave me this link - and I am saving it here for future reference:

Mint Julep CupAs a born and bred Kentuckian, Derby Day is *quite* the important holiday for us. No one in Texas or in my former home state of Tennessee quite understands its significance. I don’t drink bourbon, but I do on Derby Day, so get thee to the liquor store and get your Derby Day festivities on! Here is a recipe for the classic Mint Julep, and if you have some silver Julep cups to serve them in, all the better (Mom, it is time to share the wealth!)!

4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp superfine sugar
2 tsp water

Muddle mint leaves, sugar, and water in a silver julep cup. Fill the cup with ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig! Here is some interesting info about the history of the silver julep cup.

And here is a little joke to get you in the mood:
