I hope I am not the only Scrooge who is always relieved when Christmas comes and goes. Really, I would be very happy if all of the hoopla (not to mention the expense) was put off to about once every 5 years. It is really not that I don’t love to give people presents, because I really do, but gosh it is a huge ordeal, and it seems like you must gift everyone you know, AND even some that you don’t know, every single year.

I read somewhere, probably on a blog recently, that they would like to eliminate the Christmas gift thing altogether, and just give very nice birthday gifts. Maybe it was my brother that said that, now that I think about it. That way, you are gifting the people that you love, and are much more able to give them something really nice, or something that they really need. Not to mention the expenses are spread out over the year (well, except for my brother who is always broke in August..ha). I guess the retail world would never go for it, but it is something to think about. At any rate, I hope you 5 people who read this blog had a wonderful Christmas, and Santa brought you everything your heart desired!

Love,
Scrooge :)

Rock is Shadrock’s featured friend of the week over at my friend Kim Bloomer’s Bark-N-Blog! Go check her out if you are a dog lover, you are in for a real treat if you haven’t seen her site before. She is awesome! She is also the US affiliate for the Bella Moss Foundation, which is a UK based group founded to raise awareness and help pets with MRSA (which is obviously how I met Kim). Anyway, enjoy it! And, if you don’t like dogs, don’t bother going there and making crappy comments, it just isn’t nice! :)

Pretty Sweet 20Dec05

Thanks Performancing, this appears to be pretty sweet.  Publishes nice and quickly too!

The folks at Performancing.com have sprung forth with an awesome Firefox extension (well, it looks awesome, lets see if it works..ha) for blogging.  I have tried Qumana, but unfortunately, it messes up nearly all of my blogs.  I sure do like the Adgenta part of it, but I guess I can use it stand alone.  But I’m sure I won’t.  Ha again!  Ok, lets give it a whirl!  Publish!

If you are interested in beauty, you might be getting sick of me. I hope not! :)

This morning I started the Beauty weblog at beauty.wurk.net, and I am so excited about it! This blog will be totally different than eBeautyDaily, in that it is all about the business end of beauty. You might see products in it, but only from the perspective of working for the company mentioned. If you are interested in the beauty business, I hope that you will keep your eye on it, it should be a lot of fun, and hopefully will be most interesting! The people in the beauty business are some of the most interesting people ever, so I hope to acquire some great people participating! Think about it–did you ever know a boring hairdresser??

On the homefront, we went to Houston this weekend and I had a ball at the Galleria–what a breath of fresh air it always is to see a real mall! And boy, the Galleria is about as real as it gets. I love living in TX! :)

The kids left yesterday to go to Tennessee for Christmas, I hope they have a great time. Everyone always thinks it is terrible that they go away, but I don’t really think so. For one thing, the break is nice, and another, they need to have the time with their father. They love going to TN so much. It also takes a good bit of the “Christmas pressure” off of me, leaving me a little bit more free and less stressed out. This is ALWAYS a good thing this time of year. So, the kids are gone, and Marshall is gone. My mother and brother come in on Thursday for Christmas (yay!). So I have 3 1/2 whole days to do whatever I want. I am into hour 5 of blogging, and have 2 more to update, and then I guess I will start getting the house ready for visitors. This will take up my 3 free days. Ha! At least I got Zoe to clean up her room before she left, so the trouble there will be minimal!!

Hope you had a great weekend!

I have a plan! 16Dec05

All of this blogging I am doing now is making my head spin, but I have finally come up with a plan to keep everything organized and be able to get all of the things done I need to do so all of my blogs get updated on a daily basis. The first step was to get all of my blogs set up in Firefox so that I can click one time on the right folder in my bookmarks and all of the admin pages of ALL 8 blogs plus the Superbug Wiki will open up, then I can do each one, in orderly fashion, and close it out when I am finished, and I will be in business. So look for me to start getting regular back here now! Yay! (that is Yay for me, maybe not for you..haha)

Anyway, just a quickie update on what is going on with me–not much. I am not ready for Christmas, in any form or fashion. I did, however, manage to get my toffee made so that the kids had their teachers gifts for the last day of school today. They are leaving on Sunday to go to TN for Christmas, I always miss them so much when they are gone, and this year will be particularly bad with Marshall out of town during the week. But, he finished his assignment in Flagstaff today, and maybe we will luck out and he will be off of work next week. I can’t imagine anyone would start a big project like consulting the week before Christmas, but someone did at Thanksgiving, sooooo…. who knows. Should be a bustling week next week though anyway. Selina and I MUST pack in a shopping day as well. My mother and brother are flying here next Thursday, so will be a week full of getting the kids rooms cleaned up for them as well. I guess they don’t want to step on little Hot Wheels and Barbie stuff barefooted in the middle of the night any more than I do. So hard core shopping, cleaning and cooking in store for me!

Someone ate 3 of our 4 baby chickens yesterday. I caught Miss Pebbles with one of them, but I am pretty well guessing that she stole it from a cat. So much for that one red chicken I was excited to have!

Ok, onward and upward to the rest of the day!

New Worm - Variant of the W32.Mytob worm called
W32.Mytob.EG@mm
- June 13, 2005

Over the last few days several variants of the W32.Mytob worm has been
appearing on campus. These are mass-mailing worms with insidious social
engineering characteristics which are designed to get individuals to
open attachments containing the actual infections. All of them have
similar characteristics but the latest one is called W32.Mytob.EG@mm
which opens an IRC back door and lowers security settings on the
compromised computer. ITS is taking appropriate actions to mitigate thespread of the worm as well as the others. Until virus definition filesare updated, the best thing to do is delete any emails of this typereceived and
regularly check for new virus definitions. For more information go to the URL http://www.symantec.com/
