A lawyer went duck hunting in rural Minnesota. He shot and dropped a
bird, but it fell into a farmer’s field on the other side of a fence. As
the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his
tractor and asked him what he was doing.
The lawyer responded, “I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now
I’m going to retrieve it.”
The old farmer replied, “This is my property, and you are not coming
over here.”
The indignant lawyer said, “I’m one of the best trial attorneys
in Minnesota and if you don’t let me get that duck, I’ll sue you and
take everything you own.”
The old farmer smiled and said, “Apparently, you don’t know how we
settle disputes in these parts of Minnesota. We settle small
disagreements like this with the “Gofer Three Kick Rule.”
The lawyer asked, “What’s that?”
The farmer replied, “Well, because the dispute occurs on my land, first
I kick you three times and then you kick me three times and so on back
andforth until someone gives up”
The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that
he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local
custom.
The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the
attorney.
His first kick planted the toe of his heavy steel-toed work boot into
the lawyer’s groin and dropped him to his knees.
His second kick to the midriff sent the lawyer’s last meal gushing from
his mouth.
The barrister was on all fours when the farmer’s third kick to his rear
end sent him face-first into a fresh cow pie.

The lawyer summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his
feet.Wiping his face with the arm of his jacket, he said, “Okay, you old
coot, now it’s my turn.”

(I love this part…..)

The old farmer smiled and said, “Naw, I give up. You can have the duck.”

Aaron is the guy doing this for us, and he is quite good at what he does.  For some reason, my blog gets to be the test dummy, I guess I am the loudest (not).  This is a really interesting read if you are into reading code.  If you are not, then just pass, and scroll on down to the cheerleader and puppy pictures :)  Here is a snip of his article:

As a first run, we imported a blog called The Beauty Blog.It was noted that it did not appear all comments were imported as therewere some missing. As a point of reference, one entry on the originalblog entitled My Solution for Buildup had 4 distinct comments from 2 users.

However, upon import and viewing in the new WordPress blog, only 2 comments showed up by the same user” http://www.technosailor.com/

Think we can make a Rock?  I am thinking so :)  She is good natured and sleepy so far.  More to come later, I am sure!  Woohoo!

Puppies 22Nov05
Well, we are heading out this afternoon to Houston to look at some Bloodhound puppies, we are going to try to make a Rock.  He is a Bloodhound/Lab mix and the greatest all around hunting dog ever, as well as a very loving family pet.  If you missed him in prior posts, here he is:

So we will start with a female Bloodhound puppy (Pebbles is already her name), and a lab male shouldn’t be too hard to find!  I just hope we can find happy hunting homes for the myriad of babies that a bloodhound seems to have.  I think Marshall’s family will each take at least one.  LOL  The Rock is really a top notch hunter.

Off I go to Grandparents Day at Noah’s school–nope, I am not a grandparent, but I will have to be a reasonable facsimile today, as Noah’s grandparents are all far far away.

Once again, the circle of life hits us hard. Good stuff first–we have 4 new cute baby chickens. Bad stuff–my dog, Penny, chased a cat across the road on Friday night, right in front of my neice driving a truck carrying a huge horse trailer. She was killed almost instantly. We buried her yesterday morning at the beach, her favorite place to go. the cat sat across the road licking herself, satisfied with her days work. sigh.

Makeup Artist Gina Brooke (now with Shu Uemera)

Makeup artist Gina Brooke knows some of Hollywood’s faces better than most. Her celebrity-client list includes Eva Longoria, Carrie Washington, Kevin Spacey and African supermodel Alek Wek, whom she favors because “her skin is dark and beautiful. So many colors look fabulous on her.”

Brooke became Madonna’s personal makeup artist last fall. “I think she liked that I had a lot of knowledge about the products. We just vibed,” Brooke says. “Madonna has flawless skin. She takes care of it by eating right and drinking a lot of water.”

Update links 10Nov05

I have moved the blog to ChristinaCJones.com as of today, so if anyone happens to link here, you might give it a switcheroo. I have a redirect set up at the moment, so you shouldn’t miss a thing (woohoo–I know this blog is sooo exciting…LOL).

I am working on learning the Mambo on my husbands web site, MarshallBJones.com. If anyone knows any good reference places for info about Mambo, I would surely appreciate hearing about it, because at the moment, it is confusing the hell outta me!

“Press releases are a valuable source of content. However, most press releases need editing to some degree, as usually they are full of useless information %u2013 padding. Posting up press releases in their entirety will, in the main, cause your visitors to leave.

What follows then is a very basic attempt to show how press releases are made up and how they can be edited to your advantage. It is aimed at those new to, or with little experience of, editing releases.

This is not meant to be a lesson in journalism. The premise is that you do not want to rewrite the press release. You simply want to post it up on your site. However, what you want is the important information %u2013 not all the rubbish that comes with it. What this is then, I guess, is a lesson in basic editing.”

“Shai Coggins explained that the deal enables the networks and their bloggers to benefit from each others strengths and strategies.

This merger is like a marriage in the world of blogging networks, said Coggins. b5media and About Weblogs are coming together like two people with different strengths, personalities and opportunities, but with very similar visions and goals. We need these similarities and differences to make a good partnership. And, I believe that were a great fit. Im definitely looking forward to working with Jeremy, Darren, Duncan, and the rest of the wonderful b5 team.

Duncan Riley of b5media explained that the full integration of all the About Weblogs blogs would take a number of weeks.

As with any merger there are a number of technical issues to sort out. However, we would expect that all blogs would be fully integrated into b5media by the end of November.”

Weblog Network b5media LLC Announces Merger with About Weblogs

Well, it is finally official–we are joining the b5media network! Ooh, I hate to keep a secret–especially one that is so exciting to me.

I remember back in July, when I came on to AboutWeblogs, I was so nervous about actually writing a blog that someone might actually see (LOL). Well I have stepped in it now! My hubby thinks I am scared of success, and he is right. I am shaking in my Pink Wellies, but unbelievably excited to be working with the geniuses (in my mind anyway) at b5.

Shai keeps talking about this merger in relation to a courtship and marriage–there is something kinda sexy about that for sure. Maybe that is why we are so excited! :)

“MRSA And Bad Reporting

The latest saga of the dodgy MRSA lab is available from bad science:

Microbiologists raising doubts? It must be a cover-up

This story really does illustrate how dishonest tabloid reporting is here in the UK (guilty papers: Sun, Mirror, Mail, Evening Standard and more) Reporters seem to think it is OK to essentially fabricate evidence of MRSA contamination and then sling allegations of a ‘cover-up’ around when their dishonesty is exposed.
