Oprah 29Jun05

Ok, I guess I am not the only one that doesn’t think that Oprah was “discriminated” against by Hermes Paris. Here is an article that just about says it all. http://www.tvgasm.com/archives/miscellaneous_tv/000886.php

The astounding gall of celebrities is mindblowing sometimes. To read things like this makes me really wonder why so many people put these people on a pedestal, when they obviously do not deserve it. Why do we care about the opinions of these people so much, people who are so out of touch with reality? I just don’t get it. How can a sob story from Oprah who was not allowed in a luxury store that was CLOSED even be compared to the discrimination that some people have been through in their lives? Please. Wake up Oprah, if you want to shop after hours, do like Puffy does and make an appointment, and do not cry about it when you are turned away, that is ridiculous, and just makes you look like a self centered, spoiled brat.

Shall I even address Tom Cruise? Nah…..not worth the time.

Interesting quiz….I wonder where my good ol Lutheran church fits in here with this “neo-orthodox” rating. I hope somewhere!! I guess I should find out who Karl Barth and P T Forsyth are, since they influence me, huh? Research research research :)

You scored as Neo orthodox. You are neo-orthodox. You reject the human-centredness and scepticism of liberal theology, but neither do you go to the other extreme and make the Bible the central issue for faith. You believe that Christ is God’s most important revelation to humanity, and the Trinity is hugely important in your theology. The Bible is also important because it points us to the revelation of Christ. You are influenced by Karl Barth and P T Forsyth.

I am concurrently working on my husbands MRSA story, and am trying to see how to really use trackback. Dang is it ever confusing :)

I am just sick over Terri Schiavo once again. After reading that beautiful story about Susan Torres and her family yesterday, I had a real sense of peace. While listening to the Neil Boortz show this morning, I am blown away at how Governor Jeb Bush will not let this go. I am afraid he has crossed the line with me now for good. Me and my big mouth (fingers) sent him this letter this morning and I hope and pray that millions of others will tell him the same thing (email Jeb Bush at jeb.bush@myflorida.com):

Governor Bush,

I am not a FL resident, but I am a lifelong Bush family supporter from Texas. I know you are receiving gobs of mail regarding this, but I must put my plea in as well.

PLEASE leave the Terri Schiavo case alone once and for all. This family has had enough trauma in their lives, you are extending the pain for her family, as well as for the whole nation. And, in all honesty, I believe that you are doing a disservice to your image and that of your family, and to the image of the Republican Party by continuing this.

Sincerely,
C. C. Jones

Susan Torres

What a sad story this is. But a beautiful story as well. A dramatic counter to Terri Schiavo’s story. I hope this baby makes it, and I sure do wish I was in a position to help them.

I love this [quoted from story linked above]:
“His mother, Karen — “she’s way, way Catholic” — has told him “when the innocent suffer, great good is let loose in the world, and souls who wouldn’t otherwise have gotten in reach heaven.” That’s great, Torres says, but these days, his faith requires something more tangible. “I’m like, ‘OK, but can I get a list of those souls, in writing?’ ”

That is a beautiful interpretation of why the innocent suffer so much sometimes.

Well, we are home from Knoxville–another exciting road trip! We are kidless for the rest of the month, so I hope I can get some work done around here. I might just sleep the month away though…I do love my naps when the kiddies are gone!

Mom asked me a question today, one that I have lots of thoughts about, but here are some beginning thoughts:

Meant to ask you — What did you and Marshall think of the Michael Jackson verdict?

My reply:

Well…..we have lots of thoughts about it. You know most of them.

I was surprised they found him not guilty on ALL of the charges—sort of. If OJ and Robert Blake are innocent, so is MJ

I am glad he didn’t go to jail over this one—I truly think this family was scam artists from way back. That is not to say that I do not think MJ is a pedophile. I wouldn’t let my kid spend the night with him, or any other 40-something year old man, and I think MUCH blame goes to those parents who would.

I think MJ would die quickly in prison, I am glad he isn’t there.

Marshall and I have been joking about this one—you know Marshall thinks he is guilty as sin, but if the truth be told, I don’t think Marshall would like to see him in prison either. Go figure J You know Marshall says “That is the price of admission to Neverland. If you just want to ride rides, go pay the $50 at Disney!”

And we’re not psycho Jackson fans either—as you know

Love,

C. :)
