Well. We are due to leave on Tuesday for our road trip to Tennessee, and naturally, we have had a problem. That is ranch life.
Our (proud cut) gelding, Cowboy busted through 2 gates (one wood, one metal) to get to the stud horse that is “working” with our mare, Angel. Between that, and fighting with Big Red, he is a mess. He has cut his ankle down to the bone, right where it bends. Marshall is off to the co-op to get some dressing materials, and we will now have to find someone to dress Cowboy’s wound daily while we are gone. Somewhere during all of this, something got our rooster too, there are feathers everywhere, but no sign of the rooster. How we missed all this action, I do not know. I have been sitting at this computer all day long tweaking my phpBB forum, and reading about writing books. While at my computer, I can see right out the window to the back yard, the “backyard pasture” and the barns, and should have noticed something going on. Grrrr!
This should lead up to a nice article about MEN
Maybe some day soon!
I’m going to get a cup of coffee and get ready for the doctoring session #1.
Whew! Trackbacks are a BIT confusing! I wish Shei would write a NucleusCMS tutorial on how the heck to get this trackback feature to actually SHOW on my blog, without adding 99 lines of text to my blog. LOL Oh well, I figured out enough to get something to show anyway! Better than nothing, I guess. Tweak tweak tweak, I will be a better person for this–at least will have learned some patience!!
Heading out to get a new tire in a few minutes, we are heading to Tennessee for a week or so on Tuesday, gotta get the ol Urban Assault Vehicle in shape for the trip. Oh how I hate road trips! We decided at least to leave the dogs here, at a kennel, so we wont be arriving in Knoxville with a herd. We actually considered borrowing my brother in laws small stock trailer and towing Cowlie with us, but in the last few days, she has learned to eat pretty well, and isnt terribly interested in her bottle anymore–kinda sad. [Sing this to the toys r us tune of “I’m a big kid now”] Shes a big cow now!
Oh boy there is alot to learn in this world! I could spend the better part of the rest of my life sitting here at this computer learning things, and probably weigh 800 pounds and have a seat the size of an elephant (not to mention higly maladjusted children, and very irritable hubby!). This morning I spent 2 hours perusing the forums at phpBB, who created my forum software, to learn how to correct some login errors I was having. Now this afternoon, I am weeding out email, and find a great blogging email from about.com.
About.com gets me into so much trouble sometimes…LOL. I can start there and go who knows where learning new things. This afternoon it is trackbacks. I have read a tutorial about them from the nucleuscms.org (creator of this blogging software), but I am not alot further than I was before. Now, this kind (and gorgeous, I must say!) Shai Coggins has been so kind to provide another tutorial, and a “hands on” tutorial at that, so I am going to “attempt” to trackback to let her know I am talking about her. Thanks so much Shai!
I think I am overthinking this. I am assuming that my trackback plug in will provide a trackback URL to anyone who asks for it. I WAS thinking that I had to put this URL into my actual blog, sort of like a regular link back to her site, but now I think that is not the case.
Well here goes, thanks for the info–Shai, if you ever wonder if anyone gets anything out of your hard work at about.com, let me tell you that I, for one, surely do! And thank you again!

Buy the book!
Ooh I am excited! I just Googled “Nail Tech Secrets,” and my site just came right on up, #1! That surely must be a good thing! I just need some fabulous divas who want to do their own nails to come along now.
Tomorrow is the last day of school..hooray! No more alarm clocks, except on Sundays
I detest the alarm clock-I swear I have a better day when I wake up on my own than with that horrid thing.
We ordered Marshall some glasses through Optical4Less.com today. He chose the “Sharp and Trendy” light blue titanium model–I hope he loves them as much as I love mine from O4L! If anyone spots this, go to the link on my site and check them out, you will save HUNDREDS of dollars, if you are willing to wait 2-3 weeks for your glasses! I cannot tell you how pleased I am with them, and really with the internet glasses ordering process. I measured my old glasses, so I had something to compare theirs to, tried on some at some optical shops for grins and giggles (and see how much money I WOULD have paid!), then went to the site and ordered what I thought I might like. Just like in the optical shops, it is so easy to get overwhelmed with all of the styles, and all of the variations of the styles, but my best advice is to get a basic idea of what you like, then just jump in. At $29.99 a pair, you just cannot hardly go wrong. Marshalls wound up costing $170, but naturally, he got the top of the line Titanium frames, upgraded his lenses (which were Progressives anyway, and more costly), and got the computer glare coating on them. I guarantee he still saved $200 on them though!
Ok, I MUST get in bed, lest that dreadful alarm clock have to go off so I get up on time!
Love to all!

Oh JOY, Oh HAPPY DAY!
We are in high cotton now–relaxing in the cool, cool air conditioning, while my brother in law mows the lawn! Life is GOOD!
Would that I could have time to sit here and mess around and waste another day tweaking my website, and working on my Barnes and Noble University classes. Maybe, just maybe I will finish them before time is up at the beginning of June. I sure could stand to take a few more pictures for my book, but not doing that today, my nails look terrible..LOL!
Not much on my mind today, except I feel more like myself today than I have in weeks. I have lots of energy, been housecleaning, mailing off some eBay stuff, grocery shopping, and even made a quicky tour through the Home Depot gardening center. I love to lust after all those beautiful flowers in there! Then I wind up buying seeds that I might be lucky if I sprout 1/100th of them (not to mention the luck if 1/100th of THOSE survive the chickens and ducks!!!). Oh well, it is fun just to think about it!
Ill sign off for now,

Oh boy, I hope the AC man will get our AC finished today! Naturally it was the hottest weekend so far, temps over 100 deg. And us, with no AC. Naturally!
We have a big day today, going to Sam Houston Elementary for the 5th grade State Hat Parade. Zoe has a Tennessee hat–it should be wildly exciting! (That is, if the little boogers will get out of bed and actually GO to school today!)
ADMIN NOTE: I attempted to backdate the posts I made yesterday to show when they were actually made, but naturally that didnt work, so you see a bunch of posts from the last month right there on May 22, when they WERENT made. But, I guess having them there wrong is better than not having them at all. I guess.
Ok, gotta run and work that morning plan with the kiddies…will write more later from the only AC room in the house!

It’s getting hot in here!
We live in a nearly 100 year old house, in Texas. And guess what! Our air conditioning DIED yesterday. Naturally it won’t be fixed until Monday (being that it is Saturday!). We have a lovely window unit in our computer room, so we are keeping the door closed in here, and it is the only cool place in the house. We are playing “dueling fans” in the bedroom, one on my side, and one on Marshalls side, so at least we can sleep comfortably. So much for housecleaning!
Marshall wants to go to the boat, I would love to stay here and put some stuff on eBay (in the COOL room, remember
, but the nice cool lake sounds good to me too! I guess I can eBay tomorrow!
I updated the PayPal buttons on the site, come check them out. I also FINALLY got PHP figured out enough to get the message boards rolling. Find them @ http://www.messageboards.nailtechsecrets.com. Hope to see SOMEONE there!
Hope everyone is staying cool!

The sun is out (but setting), it is good ol’ Texas HOT today, and humid, after all of that rain over the weekend. Plus we had a pipe burst at the barn today, so it is nice and wet here still. After losing all those poor baby ducklings, I was hating the rain, but today, I noticed that I had hundreds of seeds FINALLY sprouting. I have been watering and watering for a couple of weeks now, and it seems that something finally took. I sort of figured that the rain had washed away most of my tiny seeds, but thankfully, it did not. Unless that is lots of new weeds blooming along my picket fence, that is
Marshall had a doctors appointment today, and he had gained 25 pounds! For most of us that would be traumatic, but for Marshall, it is a real blessing! He had a nearly fatal staph infection in his spine in October, spent a month in the hospital, and lost 45 pounds (he was really at his ideal weight when he got sick). Now he is back
Gotta run and help Noah with a science project, this post gave me a great idea! Maybe will write more later!
www.nailtechsecrets.com Check it out
Well, here we are on another Monday morning! The weekends get shorter every weekend! I had a great Mothers Day–I did nothing Well, until the end of the day when I realized that if I kept doing nothing, I would have to work 3 times as hard today. So, I cleaned up the kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom so the destruction wouldnt be so bad today.
We lost 8 out of 10 ducklings yesterday, I am pretty sure they drowned. Mama didn’t take them to high enough ground during the terrential rains we had yesterday. How mama chickens can get their
-ultra sensitive to water- babies out of the rain, but the mama duck can’t, is beyond me! Very sad!
On a higher note, we had another clutch of chickens unexpectedly arrive on Saturday morning, 9 babies, all different colors and VERY cute! We are waiting on the birth of a cow, and 2 litters of kittens. We need more cats, I think, we have mice in the house again! Grrrr!
I made a quickey PowerPoint presentation this morning, and put a link to it on the front page of the site, I would like to get brave and install the HTML there instead, but I have already come close to really screwing up my site this morning, so I think I had better leave well enough alone for now. I added a couple more drawings and sections to the book over the weekend, it is getting close to being finished. I just really need to figure out how to get it bound the way I want to. I guess I will start off small and get a comb binder, although I would really really like to have covers printed on glossy stock and glue them together. Maybe later The comb binding probably is best for a workbook type book anyhow, just not as spiffy looking!
I must get off to laundry heaven now, I hope to have a great day!
It’s 8:45 am, and I am in a great mood, thankfully! Yesterday was crummy!
I have already fed Cow-le (Cow-le Berry, our calf), and have dug some dirt and maneur (ugh) for flowers I am planting on the picket fenceline. I have to clean Zoe’s room (UGH–worse than digging maneur, I am thinking), and get her packed up for her Girl Scout troops camping trip to Galveston this weekend. Noah’s team won his Little League game last night, (they are now 1-4, hallelujah!) we had a great time. Thankfully he is getting a little less afraid of the pitching machine every day.
I have updated the website a little bit, www.nailtechsecrets.com/bookinfo.html, it is now ready for the Froogle datafeed, if I could get around to finishing the pictures so it will be ready to sell.
